Features of the Division

Our division has produced many specialists on gastroenterology, hepatology and nephrology since 1947. These physicians work as not only specialists, but also as generalists in internal medicine in communities throughout Japan. In addition, our division has trained many competent researchers in basic and clinical medicine, as well as clinicians.

Hepatology group

  1. Development of novel therapies for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) targeting YAP (Yes-associated protein)
  2. Roles of endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)/ nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH)
