School of Health Sciences

Using the latest health sciences technology, we train healthcare professionals who will be able to make significant contributions to society.

Departmental Objectives

With medical advances and social changes that have occurred in recent years, the School of Health Science has seen increasingly high demand for more sophisticated, specialized, and multifaceted training programs. To meet such demand, we plan to incorporate state-of-the-art gene diagnosis and therapy technologies, the latest transplantation techniques, and regenerative medicine technologies into our curriculum. Preventive medicine, rehabilitation, and end-of-life care are indispensable to societies faced with a rapidly growing aging population. Our mission is to improve the quality of life in general by increasing the quality of care we provide.
The educational philosophy of the School of Health Science goes beyond nursing: it is “to master the theory and skills built upon humanity and to develop nursing practice according to regional characteristics”. With respect to the Clinical Laboratory Science course, the educational philosophy is to “respect the principles of bioethics and educate clinical laboratory technicians experienced in the latest bioscience technologies and cutting-edge testing techniques for biological functions”.

Campus Life

The first-year students will take, together with students with other majors, general courses (introductory courses, special subject courses, practice courses) at the Tottori campus in Tottori City. In their second year, they will take basic medical sciences courses as well as specialized courses on the Yonago campus.
Education and research are performed under the collaboration of the Department of Medicine and the Department of Life Science. The University Hospital is the leading force of our comprehensive medical educational system. With views of the Daisen National Park in the distance and located in the vicinity of Nakaumi, Yonago Castle, and Minatoyama Park, Yonago campus treasures its beautiful and quiet surroundings, which makes it an ideal base for schoolwork and physical activities.
